The Role
As a Finance Assistant, you’ll provide crucial financial and administrative support to our senior management team. This role is hands-on, covering everything from processing invoices to preparing financial reports. You’ll ensure smooth day-to-day financial operations while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process monthly invoices and receipts
- Issue statements and manage credit control (aged debtor analysis & chasing debtors)
- Handle transactional work, including credit card and expense claims
- Administer staff benefit systems
- Manage petty cash in GBP and other currencies
- Conduct monthly VAT reviews and prepare quarterly returns
- Perform bank account reconciliations
- Monitor income, expenditure, budgets, and forecasts
- Prepare financial metrics for senior management
- Produce monthly management accounts
- Refine and develop finance systems
- Maintain company cash flow
- Act as the first point of contact for financial queries
- Prepare year-end accounts information
- Assist in preparing and finalising quotations and proposals

The Ideal Candidate
They’re looking for a detail-orientated and proactive finance professional who enjoys working independently and as part of a small team. About you:
- Previous experience in a similar finance role, ideally within an SME
- Experience using financial management systems (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Professional communication skills (both written & verbal)
- Qualification from a recognised accountancy body (CIMA, ACCA, AAT preferred)
