Day-to-day of the role:

As an Autism Specialist 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will: - Provide dedicated, individualised support to students with autism, helping them to achieve their full educational potential. - Work closely with classroom teachers to implement effective strategies tailored to individual needs. - Assist in the development and execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). - Support the student in both academic and social-emotional aspects, facilitating a positive and inclusive school experience. - Utilise specialised techniques to enhance communication, engagement, and learning outcomes for students. - Monitor and report on the student’s progress, adapting strategies as needed to optimise success.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an Autism Specialist 1:1 Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within special educational needs (SEN) settings.
  • A deep understanding of autism and the specific challenges and opportunities it presents in an educational context.
  • Confidence and dedication to go above and beyond in supporting children with special needs.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a DBS certificate on the update service.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, students, and parents.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of autism education.
