Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - Supply

Stafflex is recruiting compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to support in primary schools in Huddersfield. In this role, you will provide vital assistance to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other school staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEN
  • Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and assist in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt classroom activities to meet the needs of SEN students
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and ensure a safe learning environment
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing environment to promote student's social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents and other professionals to monitor and report on student progress

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school setting
  • Knowledge of various SEN conditions and strategies for supporting these students
  • Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children's learning and well-being
  • An enhanced DBS check registered with the DBS Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
