SEN Teaching Assistant- Special School

I am currently recruiting for experienced SEN Educational teaching assistant (SEN ETA) tostart in September at a High needs Autism special school situated in Huddersfield. This is a through school with children that present with: Communication difficulties, non-verbal and verbal Autistic spectrum disorder and SLD. The SEN ETA position is for covering sickness, however for the right individual there will be an opportunity to apply for a permanent role and be a part of the team. Job description:

  • As a SEN Educational Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting the children on the autistic spectrum disorder and understanding the differentiated needs.
  • Providing a safe and secure environment for learning.
  • Support the class teacher with tasks and activities set for the learners.
  • Have solid knowledge and understanding Autistic Spectrum Disorder and provide proven evidence.
  • Must have experience with PECS and MAKATON.
  • Team Teach is an advantage, but not necessary.
  • Personal care may be needed.

Job Spec:

  • Must have a minimum level 2 teaching Assistant Qualification, GNVQ level 2 or above Health and social care, SEND Diploma or equivalent.
  • PECS, MAKATON, Hoist training, Manual handling.
  • Flexible an adaptable.
  • Diligent, resilient and pro-active in your approach.
  • Must demonstrate experience and Knowledge of Autistic spectrum disorder.
