PK Education are recruiting for a temporary to permanent SEN ETA position, at a special school in Huddersfield. The SEN ETA role is to start during the September month. Children attending this special school age range between 5-19 years old. All children have differentiated SEN needs this can be from: Delayed development, communication and cognitive difficulties, behavioural difficulties, hearing impairment, Autistic spectrum disorder, social and emotional difficulties. Job Description:

  • Support the teacher as a SEN ETA and the SEN students within the class, ensuring the needs of the students met at all times.
  • Must have experience supporting children with Nonverbal communication difficulties.
  • Be prepared to get involved and use own initiative whenever possible.
  • Ability to re-direct any negative or spontaneous challenging behaviour children may display.
  • Build trusted relationships with the students.
  • Provide a nurturing approach to understand the student’s abilities and frustrations to create a positive outcome in their learning.

Job Spec:

  • Level two teaching assistant or equivalent.
  • It would be an advantage if you have GNVQ level 2 Health and Social care or equivalent.
  • Must be highly enthusiastic and a highly motivated individual with a real passion for supporting children with differentiated needs.
  • Have knowledge of the children and young people on the Autistic spectrum disorder and severe learning difficulties.
  • Fully committed and adaptable.
  • Must have Valid DBS on the subscription service.
  • Be willing to have a flexible approach.
