Weldin supervior summary

To provide leadership to the welding team through outstanding people management skills. To ensure delivery commitments are understood and fulfilled on time, in full. Delivery high quality components to clearly defined standards whilst reviewing efficiencies and eliminating waste within the process. To ensure all welders are working to current procedures and training requirements/standards are identified and performed.

Key responsibilities of Welding supervisor :

  • To ensure department delivers to its internal customers on time and in full.
  • Identify where required capacity issues, training needs and plans to overcome these
  • Familiar with managing a team to ensure they are working to internal quality procedures, qualified welding procedures, SOPs, working drawings and operational / production planning's.
  • Manage the team to ensure they are adhering to the required documentation completion and control to provide full traceability for the contract.

Experience of the Welding supervisor

  • Experience of managing a team using TIG, MIG / MAG and brazing processes.
  • Preferably an understanding S275, S355, austenitic stainless steel and 90/10 copper / nickel materials used in pipe work, supports and bracketry..
  • Familiar with BSEN ISO (phone number removed), BSEN ISO (phone number removed), BSEN ISO 9606-1, BSEN ISO 9606-3 welding procedure and standards.
  • Managing and monitoring of welder qualification certificates, validating on a six-monthly basis, and planning welder qualification retests to ensure contracts are fully covered.
  • Work with the Welding Quality Engineer in the planning and implementation of any required welding procedure qualification testing.
  • Manage and monitor material stocks and pipe & fittings for contract, and order when required.
  • specifications to ensure compliance with contract specifications. (Pre weld dimensional inspection, root pass visual inspection, fully welded visual inspection, MPI / DPI, external radiography, bore testing and pressure testing).
  • Preferably familiar with BSEN ISO 5817 Level B, Def Stan 02-773, and Lloyds Rules 2019.
  • Liaise with 3rd party NDT company and plan, prepare, and manage all required NDT testing for contract.

Working hours of the Welding Supervisor

Working 37.5 hours per week, the successful candidate will be offered flexible working hours to suit their circumstances; however the below core working hours must be worked by all employees.

  • Monday to Thursday - 9:30AM to 2:15PM
  • Friday - 9:30AM to 12PM
