Are you a friendly and detail-oriented individual looking to make a real impact in a vibrant finance team? Our client is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their organisation on a permanent, full-time basis, offering a competitive salary of up to £30,000 per annum depending on experience.
As an Accounts Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in keeping operations running smoothly. Your days will be filled with a variety of responsibilities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all financial processes:
- Process and code supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal processes.
- Reconcile supplier statements to resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare timely payments and maintain positive supplier relationships.
- Lead the processing of PAYE payroll, accurately recording timesheets, bonuses, and deductions.
- Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure timely and accurate staff payments and assist with statutory returns.
- Assist with processing subcontractor invoices and ensure compliance with CIS regulations.
- Verify payments and maintain communication to resolve invoicing discrepancies.
- Keep financial records updated using Sage software and track outstanding invoices.
- Manage recharged expenses according to lease terms and process VAT returns in line with tax regulations.
- Help maintain the general ledger and support the finance team during month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Keep the filing system organised and assist with various projects as needed.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Previous experience in payroll, accounts payable, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Sage or Xero) and Excel.
- An eye for detail and the ability to handle financial data with accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with suppliers and team members.
- A team-oriented mindset, thriving in a collaborative environment.
- Strong time management skills, able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Confidentiality while handling sensitive information.
- Familiarity with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) and subcontractor payment processing.
- Understanding of payroll processing and tax legislation, including PAYE and National Insurance.
- Experience with payroll software.
