Accounts Assistant | Hull (HU3) | £25k-£28k | Office Based | ShippingRole OverviewOur client is a PE backed business experiencing rapid growth which has led to the need of an experienced Assistant Accountant to join the business in this newly created role. They are the leading UK ship chandler – providing a one-stop shop for vessels of any type & size.  The post holder will provide support to the Financial Controller, the Executive team and the Finance team to ensure Hutton’s finances are managed effectively and will act as the link between the operational services to ensure the efficient and accurate processing of financial information.  This role would suit someone who is ambitious, driven, with excellent communication and relationship building skills; specifically it would be highly beneficial if you had experience in a similar role such as Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant.For further information, please get in touch for immediate consideration.Responsibilities
  1. Develop, support, mentor junior members of the finance team and oversee the running of the purchase ledger.
  2. Maintain efficient controls and procedures for the raising of payments (money out) ensuring payments are made in a timely manner and in-line with the company’s accounting policies
  3. Prepare detailed analyses of costs on a monthly basis, comparing to budget and identifying variances.  Engage with stakeholders to actively challenge and manage costs and optimise savings for the business
  4. Execute the payroll, and in liaison with HR ensuring accuracy of staff pay.
  5. Support on a day to day basis the Supplier order process through the provision of routine information (orally and/or electronically) as required.
Person Specification:
  • 2+ years finance experience in a similar role such as Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant or Purchase Ledger Clerk
  • AAT 3 qualified and above
  • Accurate with good attention to detail.
  • Able to work autonomously and part of integrated teams
  • Have excellent IT skills, especially within MS Excel spreadsheet development and manipulation
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be able to work within a fast paced, ever changing business
