A vacancy has arisen for a General Operative/Crane Driver based at our Hull Sites. The role will be split between our Reservoir road site and Queen Elizabeth Dock sites. The purpose of the role is to carry out all activities necessary to ensure the safe loading, sorting, grading and unloading of scrap metal. To organise material to ensure good standards of housekeeping are met.

Key accountabilities of the role holder include:

  • Ensure vehicles are loaded and unloaded in a safe and proper manner
  • Safely stockpile various grades of scrap metal, and assist with loading and unloading
  • Ensure materials are stored in accordance with company policy
  • Ensure daily checks are completed
  • Attend any training courses that the company proposes
  • Co-ordinate with other operatives to ensure the correct processing of all loads
  • Carry out final inspection of dispatched scrap materials
    • Process material to conform with grade specifications
  • Assist in the scheduling of inward and outward transport
  • Liaise with customers, drivers and contractors who visit the site
  • Ensure the working area is kept in a clean and tidy state at all times
  • Able to work flexible working hours to include occasional evenings and weekends
  • Operation of site based machinery including the shear
  • Perform such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require
  • Comply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety and Community

Applicants should have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and a proven track record of working within a team environment. A valid 360 Material Handler licence or experience would be an advantage, as well as a FLT Licence. It is important that applicants are self motivated, flexible and adaptable.
