Job Opportunity: Behaviour Mentor / Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support
Location: Hull & East Riding of Yorkshire
Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time
Salary: £89 to £110 a day 

GSL Education Hull is currently recruiting for a Behaviour Mentor / Teaching Assistant to work within a vibrant and supportive Alternative Provision in Hull. The school caters for students in Key Stages 3 and 4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASC), and other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

• Specialist Student Support: A nurturing, trauma-informed environment built on attachment theory and effective behaviour strategies.

• Flexible, Individualised Curriculum: Blending core academic subjects with vocational pathways such as Hair & Beauty, Construction, and Catering.

• Career-Focused Approach: Real-world experiences, careers guidance, and life-skills preparation to support each student’s next steps.

• Literacy & Numeracy Priority: Emphasis on developing essential skills for future education, training, or employment.

• Inclusive Culture: High expectations, positive relationships, and a strong focus on personal development and emotional wellbeing.

• Provide tailored support to students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs.

• Work alongside teaching staff to deliver engaging, accessible lessons.

• Promote student confidence, independence, and emotional growth.

• Support life skills and vocational learning.

• Liaise with SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals to implement personalised strategies.

• Build meaningful relationships with students, families, and the wider school team.

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEMH needs (education, care, or youth work settings).

• A nurturing, empathetic, and patient approach.

• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.

• A genuine passion for helping young people thrive.

• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
