GSL Education are seeking a motivated and compassionate Learning Mentor to join a supportive primary school in Hull. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive.

As a Learning Mentor, you will be instrumental in providing individualised support to pupils facing challenges in their learning. You will work closely with individuals and small groups, delivering tailored guidance and motivational support to help them overcome obstacles and achieve their potential. This role requires a patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students in their academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities of the Learning Mentor:

  • Work with individuals and small groups to support students with barriers to learning.
  • Provide motivational and academic guidance, tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Monitor and track student progress, identifying areas for improvement and providing targeted support.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to create effective learning strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, helping students build confidence and resilience.
  • Assist with the development of students' social, emotional, and academic skills.

Requirements of the Learning Mentor:

  • Experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students.
  • An empathetic, patient, and proactive approach to working with students facing challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Experience working in an educational or care setting is beneficial.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
