We are looking to recruit a detail-oriented Family Paralegal for a permanent opportunity with a market leading law firm based in Hull.

The successful individual will assist the family department by supporting the team and have responsibility for her/his own work load. You will be one of the first points of face-to-face contact with the firm for clients seeking help and advice in respect of family law issues.

Responsibilities include:

  • General administrative tasks and support including diary management but also filing, printing, scanning, binding and photocopying.
  • Drafting legal documents such as bundles and court applications.
  • Client correspondence through emails/telephone calls/face to face in the office.
  • Conducting research.
  • Assisting/shadowing solicitors.
  • Managing own caseload and maintaining accurate files in accordance with office procedures.
  • Confirming instructions and advice to clients in writing.

Knowledge, Skills Preferred/Required:

  • Previous legal work experience ideally in family law is desirable.
  • A commitment to excellent client care and enthusiasm for family work.
  • Excellent IT skills particularly with experience in Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing, including dealing directly with
  • clients when required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Strong team working ethic.
  • Effective administrative skills.
  • Accurate and efficient time recording skills.
  • Able to identify problems, complaints and risk management.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be proactive.
  • Experience in a case management system is desirable, but full training will be given
