We’re supporting our client, a leading global equipment manufacturer based in Hull, who are looking for a Maintenance Engineer (Extrusion) to join their growing team. The successful Maintenance Engineer (Extrusion) will have experience of Maintenance within plastics manufacturing.

Position Overview: As a Maintenance Engineer (Extrusion), you will be a key player in overseeing maintenance and ensuring operational excellence. Reporting directly to senior management, you’ll take charge of critical maintenance activities, lead process improvement initiatives, and solve complex engineering challenges. The company’s key products include working with recycled plastics and biodegradable materials, ensuring sustainable and high-quality production.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both hands-on and leadership capacities, combining technical proficiency with a strategic mindset.

Responsibilities for Maintenance Engineer (Extrusion):

  • Plan and conduct site maintenance activities, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent performance.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive site maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure all site equipment is fully complaint to safety legislations, testing, and inspections
  • Analyse and resolve issues through root cause analysis and fault-finding techniques.
  • Perform equipment repair as required and testing while maintaining detailed records.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Support project plans including site preparation work, equipment installation and commissioning, technical training, and supporting on repairs as needed

About You:

  • 5-10 years’ experience
  • Experience in extrusion processes and injection moulding advantageous
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiency.
  • Injection moulding advantageous.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a hands-on approach.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused, with a drive to deliver high-quality results.
  • A proactive, “get it done” attitude with the ability to work independently and lead by example.
