A primary school in Hull is seeking a Phonics Intervention Teacher to support KS1 pupils in developing essential reading and writing skills. Help children build confidence and achieve key milestones in their learning.
About the Role:
As a Phonics Intervention Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering targeted phonics sessions to small groups and individual pupils, ensuring they develop strong foundational literacy skills. You will work closely with class teachers and support staff to identify pupils who need additional support and tailor your teaching strategies to meet their needs. Your role will be crucial in helping pupils overcome challenges and make significant progress in their reading and writing abilities.
Key Responsibilities of the Phonics Intervention Teacher:
- Deliver high-quality phonics sessions in line with the KS1 National Curriculum, ensuring pupils make excellent progress.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, supported, and motivated to learn.
- Use differentiated teaching strategies to cater for diverse learning needs, ensuring all pupils are challenged and engaged.
- Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing regular feedback and adapting teaching methods accordingly.
- Work closely with class teachers and support staff to enhance the learning experience for all pupils.
- Foster positive relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed of their child's progress and development.
- Uphold high standards of behaviour and classroom management, promoting a culture of respect and responsibility.
Phonics Intervention Teacher Requirements:
- A relevant degree in Primary Education or a closely related field, alongside Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Proven experience teaching phonics and early literacy skills, preferably in KS1.
- Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum, including phonics frameworks.
- A passion for child-centred learning and a commitment to inspiring young minds.
- Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to create a structured yet dynamic learning environment.
- Ability to use assessment data effectively to inform planning and drive pupil progress.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a school team.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
