As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with class teachers to support lesson delivery and provide targeted interventions for pupils who need additional support – particularly those with SEND needs. You’ll help create an environment where every child feels encouraged, supported, and valued.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport Learning – Assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
SEND Support – Work with children with additional needs to help them access the curriculum.
Encourage Independence – Promote confidence and learning in a nurturing way.
Collaborate – Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and parents/carers.
Maintain a Safe Environment – Ensure safeguarding and well-being remain top priorities.
Monitor Progress – Support assessment and adapt strategies as needed.
Recent experience working in a school or childcare-related role.
Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable.
A caring, patient, and proactive attitude.
Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for working with children.
Relevant qualifications are a bonus but not essential with strong experience.
Right to work in the UK.
An up-to-date CV with two recent references.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
