About the Role:

As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons that encourage students to explore and develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts. You will be expected to plan and deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with the potential for Key Stage 5, depending on experience), ensuring students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging science lessons following the national curriculum.
  • Teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with Key Stage 5 optional, depending on specialism).
  • Foster a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to think critically and develop a passion for science.
  • Differentiate lessons to accommodate varying learning styles and abilities, ensuring inclusivity for all students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Promote practical scientific inquiry through engaging experiments and hands-on activities.
  • Maintain high standards of classroom management, promoting positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop schemes of work, share best practices and contribute to departmental initiatives.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and science-related clubs to further enrich students' learning experiences.
  • Uphold school policies on safeguarding, equality and inclusion to create a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Science Teacher requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification in Science.
  • Experience teaching Science at the secondary level, with a strong understanding of the national curriculum.
  • A proven track record of raising student attainment and delivering outstanding lessons.
  • Subject specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics is desirable, but a strong general Science background is essential.
  • Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • A passion for Science and a commitment to inspiring young minds through innovative teaching methods.
  • Ability to differentiate learning materials to cater to a range of abilities.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
