GSL Education are currently looking for a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in Hull to deliver structured lessons and contribute to learning across all year groups – perfect for individuals keen to progress within their educational support career.

About the Role:

As an HLTA, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of a teacher, leading intervention groups, and supporting students across different year groups. You’ll work in close collaboration with teachers and senior leaders to maintain a positive learning environment and raise student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned lessons in line with the national curriculum when the teacher is unavailable.
  • Support pupils in their academic and personal development across key stages.
  • Lead small-group or 1:1 interventions, especially for pupils requiring additional help.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of classroom resources.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to assessment reports.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and respectful classroom culture.

Job Requirements:

  • Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent Level 4 teaching support certification.
  • Proven experience working as an HLTA within a school setting.
  • Confident in delivering learning activities independently to whole classes in the absence of the teacher.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and the ability to follow structured lesson plans effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage classroom behaviour positively and professionally.
  • A proactive, flexible attitude with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider team.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
