Key Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant:
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and other behavioral needs.
  • Implement de-escalation strategies and positive behavior management techniques to support students in regulating emotions and behaviors.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning experiences, ensuring students remain engaged and supported.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing environment, promoting confidence, independence, and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement effective behavior support plans.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, offering guidance and encouragement to improve their academic and social development.
Key Requirements of a Behaviour Support Assistant:
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, challenging behavior, or additional learning needs.
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies, including Team-Teach, MAPA, or de-escalation training (desirable but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic approach with the ability to build positive connections with students.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
