GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our client school in Hull. This role is ideal for individuals with a keen interest in working with students who require additional support, helping them achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will play an integral role in supporting students within the classroom and beyond. You will work closely with the teaching staff to assist students with their academic progress, providing tailored support to ensure they understand the curriculum and meet their learning goals. Whether working with individuals or small groups, your support will enable students to fully engage with lessons, develop confidence, and gain the skills they need for future success. Your role will also involve encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities, fostering a positive and inclusive school experience.

What you have to do as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA):

  • Providing academic support to students, helping them to understand and engage with lessons.
  • Assisting students with special educational needs, ensuring they are fully included in classroom activities.
  • Supporting students in a one-to-one or small group setting, adapting to their individual learning needs.
  • Helping to develop and implement personalised learning plans in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Encouraging and fostering positive behaviour and participation during lessons.
  • Supporting the teacher in preparing learning materials and classroom activities.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the teaching staff.
  • Assisting in the supervision of students during break times and other school activities.
  • Creating a supportive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning.

What we need from an LSA:

  • Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
  • A CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or similar qualifications are desirable but not required.
  • A passion for supporting young people with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication skills to build effective relationships with students and staff.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and contribute positively to the school’s ethos.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
