About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in helping students with challenging behaviours. You will assist students in managing their emotions, keeping them focused and engaged in lessons. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will implement personalised behaviour management strategies, providing students with the tools they need to succeed. Your role will be integral in maintaining a calm and structured learning environment that promotes both academic achievement and personal growth.
Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Officer:
- Providing tailored support to students displaying challenging behaviour, helping them stay engaged in learning.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and offering emotional support.
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and parents to develop individual behaviour plans.
- Supporting students in a classroom environment and during social times to promote positive interactions.
- Encouraging students to develop self-confidence, emotional resilience, and problem-solving skills.
- Assisting in the delivery of intervention programmes for students who need additional support.
- Monitoring progress and reporting on students' behaviour and well-being to staff and parents.
- Helping maintain a safe and structured learning environment.
Behaviour Support Officer Requirements:
- Experience working with young people in an educational, mentoring, or support role as a Behaviour Support Officer.
- A relevant qualification in education, psychology, youth work, or similar is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
