Social Worker, £35ph, Fostering Service, HullPertemps are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fostering Social Worker to join Hull's fostering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in foster care. They will be involved in recruitment, assessment, support of foster carers, and placement matching, while ensuring high-quality social work practice in line with statutory regulations and service procedures.Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people, including those of foster carers.
  • Contribute to Hull Children's Social Care Services strategy, ensuring safety, permanency, and stability for children and young people.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, children, parents, and carers, ensuring child-centred practice is at the forefront of all work.
  • Recruit, assess, and support foster carers, ensuring adherence to procedures and legislation.
  • Undertake placement finding, matching, and allocation of foster carers to meet the needs of children.
  • Directly work with carers, children, young people, and families, ensuring a holistic approach to support and safeguarding.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, assessments, and plans in line with Fostering Regulations and NMS.
  • Engage in decision-making on complex/high-risk cases and provide advice to colleagues.
  • Attend relevant meetings and panels, including Foster Panels, CLA Reviews, and Strategy Meetings.
  • Supervise foster carers in accordance with NMS and Fostering Regulations.
  • Provide professional support and supervision to social work students and non-qualified team members.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours service on a rota basis to provide support to foster carers.
Role Requirements:
  • A qualification in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Extensive experience in fostering and children’s social care services.
  • Strong knowledge of fostering legislation, regulations, and best practice.
