Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you want to make a meaningful impact on pupils’ learning and development?

GSL Education are looking for a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming school in Hull. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with additional needs both 1:1 and in small groups, helping them to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning strategies and provide a nurturing environment for students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.

Your Responsibilities as a SEN TA:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs.
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
  • Encourage independence and build confidence in pupils.
  • Assist with classroom activities, adapting resources to meet pupils' needs.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to support learning.
  • Monitor and report pupil progress to teachers and SENCO.
  • Provide personal care support when required.
  • Promote the social and emotional well-being of pupils.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all pupils at all times.

SEN Teaching Assistant Qualification:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or care setting as an SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable.
  • Knowledge of common SEN needs such as ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
