The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your work will focus on creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where children with autism and other additional needs can thrive.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Supporting children with autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, SpLD and other learning needs through tailored one-on-one and group interventions.
  • Assisting teachers in adapting lesson plans to meet the specific sensory, communication, and academic needs of students.
  • Helping students develop confidence, independence, and social skills in a safe and engaging classroom environment.
  • Monitoring progress and collaborating with teachers and SEN coordinators to adjust strategies and ensure the best outcomes.
  • Managing behavioural challenges with empathy and understanding, using approaches designed for neurodiverse students.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: A background in working with children with autism or other SEN, including understanding sensory needs and communication styles.
  • Qualifications: Relevant SEN or Teaching Assistant qualifications are a plus.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adjust to varying classroom environments and individual student needs.
  • DBS Certification: An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
