GSL Education Hull Branch are seeking special needs teaching assistants to support young people aged 11 to 17years old with a diverse range of additional needs. This will be a long-term basis, full time, Monday to Friday, or part-time, minimum of 3 days per week. To be considered for this position, experience and knowledge of special educational needs is essential.

The role of a Special Needs Teaching Assistant will include, but not be limited to:

  • Preparing earning materials and adapt lesson plans from the class teacher, to effectively support individual student's needs.
  • Looking after children and young people’s physical, social and emotional welfare and wellbeing.
  • Coming up with engaging and creative ways to interact with the young people you are supporting.
  • Working alongside other professionals such as speech and language therapists and physiotherapists.
  • At times, delivering personal care to young people you are supporting.

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant in Hull, with GSL Education, you should have:

  • At least 6 months experience in an educational or health care setting.
  • Experience supporting children, young people, or adults with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties or physical disabilities.
  • The willingness to provide personal care when needed.
  • A passion and dedication to supporting people with additional needs, to be able to live as independently as possible.
  • A relevant qualification at Level 2 or higher, such as a Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
