GSL Educations Hull Branch is seeking an experienced Special Educational Needs Teacher for an Alternative Provision in East Riding of Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive and dedicated team of staff, providing high quality education to children and young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Your contribution will help encourage positive opportunities and help young people to succeed and improve life skills to increase their chances of returning to mainstream school and contributing to their wider community in a constructive and sustainable manner.

About the SEN Teacher Job Role: 

  • Working with a small number of students with neurodiverse needs to provide a person-centred and personalised curriculum, predominantly following a Primary curriculum.
  • To engage learners through educational activities, and the use of resources available to you, such as a walled garden, sports facilities and IT equipment.
  • To incorporate English and Maths skills into your lessons.
  • To enhance the social, emotional, and academic skills of the young people you are teaching.   
  • To work in partnership with a number of Teaching Assistants and the Senior Leaders of the school to ensure EHCP outcomes are met.

SEN Teacher Requirements:

  • Hold a UK recognised teaching qualifications such as Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Cert Ed, BA Honours Degree with QTS or QTLS.
  • At least 6 months experience working with young people with additional needs or behavioural challenges.
  • Experience creating personalised curriculums and learning plans.
  • Knowledgeable about behaviours linked to a range of additional needs including trauma, social, emotional, and mental health needs, ADHD, and Autism.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
