They understand the value of networks and partnerships, and therefore focus on developing logistic solutions together with their customers and suppliers. They are now looking to recruit Transport Planner to the team. You will plan all operational activities on time and in the most cost-effective manner. Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal customers ensuring excellent operational performance is also key to this role.
THE ROLE:
Plan all operational activities well in advance within area of control to exceed customer's requirements.
Arrange additional resource or alternative options to effectively cover all operational activity.
Ensure planning carried out in the most efficient and cost-effective way to achieve optimum margin potential.
Ensure all collections and deliveries are planned on time to meet customer requirements in full.
Ensure all necessary operational arrangements are in place for trial loads and sensitive requirements.
Ensure all fluctuations in volume are highlighted well in advance in order for them to be managed accordingly.
Monitor payloads to ensure targets are being met.
Liaise closely with Procurement team, ensuring we have the best and most cost-effective haulage resource for service delivery
Ensure all operational issues (contaminations, wet-loads, spillages etc.) are dealt with appropriately, informing relevant parties immediately and recording via Swift system.
Understand haulier earning requirements to ensure mutual productivity.
Assist with the management of supplier failures together with the Operations Manager attending review meetings where necessary and working with suppliers to ensure improvement plans are carried out.
Responsible for the correct production of supplier confirmation notes to prevent future payment queries.
Ensure all additional costs are communicated and agreed at the time, minimising the potential for future recovery queries.
Ensure confirmation notes are not more than one week outstanding.
Ensure supplier invoices and queries are resolved within 7 days of receipt.
THE CANDIDATE:
Minimum of two years road haulage planning (bulk) experience is essential
Ability to work well under pressure and react quickly to customer requirements
Understands and demonstrates a safety culture
A high sense of responsibility, to achieve operational excellence
Communicates clearly with Drivers and colleagues in the office
Excellent telephone and communication skills
Able to plan and organise work in a structured way whilst being able to adapt to ever changing scenarios
Strong team player with ability to work on own initiative
Ability to problem solve and be creative in finding solutions
Fast and accurate IT skills
