Annual Salary: £32,000 - £38,000

Job Type: Full-time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 15:30 (30-minute lunch break)

Reed Engineering are working with a bespoke manufacturing company and are looking for a dedicated Quality Inspector to join their team. You will need to ensure that the manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role is crucial for maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 standards and supporting the value stream delivery teams in meeting customer delivery commitments.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Conduct inspections of components, assemblies, and documentation at various stages: goods receipt, in-process, at suppliers, and prior to final dispatch to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Measure product dimensions, examine functionality, and compare the final product to the specifications.
  • Regularly liaise with the Quality Manager regarding quality issues and corrective actions, assisting where necessary.
  • Create and maintain inspection records that accurately reflect end-to-end product manufacturing and packaging activities.
  • Ensure correct calibration of measuring equipment used in production and inspection, and appraise new measuring equipment and techniques for cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Commercial, and Procurement teams to drive improved manufacturing and supply chain performance and early defect detection.
  • Ensure adherence to company environmental, health, and safety standards in compliance with company policies to ensure a safe working environment and minimisation of environmental impact.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Quality Inspector or in a relevant role.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Excellent numerical skills and understanding of measuring equipment and methods, including Vernier's, height gauges, micrometres, and rulers.
  • Experience and ability to calibrate hand held measuring tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • ISO 9001 internal auditor training is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with NDT testing and conducting internal audits for ISO 9001 is desirable.
