Founded in 1924, Woodgreen’s mission is to care for vulnerable pets, whether they have been abandoned, neglected, are vulnerable or simply need a home. Our vision is for every pet to have a home where they are loved, well cared for and enjoy positive relationships with their owners.
Since our story started, we’ve grown into a charity which helps thousands of pets and people every year through a wide range of services and facilities. Although the challenges people face with their pets are as relevant today as they were in 1924, looking to the future, we’re excited about focusing more on our prevention work - helping pets and people before they reach crisis point.
Our newly created Business Governance Manager will support us to do this by providing leadership of, and administrative support to, the strategic and operational governance of Woodgreen Pet Charity for which the Board of Trustees is accountable. Reporting to our Director of Finance and Corporate Services, they will help us to achieve the Charity’s strategic and operational aims whilst complying with all relevant legislation and regulation and striving to adopt evolving best business practices relative to the nature, scale and complexity of Woodgreen Pets Charity.
As a trusted expert advisor they will provide confidential advice and guidance on business governance, manage meetings, and administratively support the work of our Trustees and their committees in a senior capacity. They will:
- Set, operate and provide ongoing assurance of a Council-approved governance framework and related operating procedures, including standards for groups’ terms of reference, production of routine monthly and quarterly reports to Council and Executive, and policy management.
- Manage and support all Council, Council sub-committees, Executive Leadership Team meetings, and the Leaders’ Forum.
- Maintain all official company records.
- Oversee and coordinate Woodgreen’s programme management, including strategic change initiatives and operational projects.
- Provide routine, proactive and ad hoc administrative support to Council and the Executive Leadership Team.
With demonstrable experience of working with Senior Leadership our successful candidate will be a GradCG qualified or part-qualified member of the Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) or equivalent, or will be willing to commence and complete training to that level. They will be a confident communicator with an eye for detail and will be able to multi-task with competing priorities working to strict deadlines.
