Assistant People Business Partner 

Are you an experiencedHR Adviser looking for your next step up towardsHR Business Partner with experience in the retail, manufacturingor logistics sector?

We are currently on the search for a newAssistant PeoplePartner to join our team supporting our manufacturing site in Huntingdon and our Operations sites across the UK, but predominantly focused initiallyin the Southern Region in Tewkesbury, Huntingdon and Dagenham.

You will have the full support of a People Team, including a shared service centre,and Business Partner teambased in Accrington, and regular travel to Accrington isto be expected with the role to ensure connection to the wider team and business.

Thepurpose of therole is to provide hands onsupport,coaching and advice, based on industrybest practice,to ourOperations and Manufacturingteams. You will support with the implementation of the People Plans for the business, which will involve training, learning and development interventions as required.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about our people, and our colleague experience, whilst understanding our need to deliver in a fast paced commercialretail environment.

You will also:

  • Support and challenge our operations teams as appropriate to deliver the best colleague experience in line with business goals

  • Through coaching, training, development and the implementation of actions plans linked to theoverall People Plan help to create a positive performance culture across our Operations and Manufacturing Teams

  • Help to drivethe company's values and culture

  • Develop and maintain trusting and effective partnerships with stakeholders across the business

  • Support with compilation, analysis and presentation of trendsin HR metrics to understand key performance issues anddevelop actions to address

  • Be an active ambassador forthe people team influencing and supporting to ensure line managers keepthe people agenda at the forefront of business decisions

  • Support the recruitment process in aiding a compelling EVP

  • Work with the L&D team to develop training onrelevant topics and identify any training needs to support colleague / management development

  • Be instrumental insupporting the delivery of change programmes where restructuring is required

  • Able to deputise for thePeople Partner Operations when appropriate

Who are we looking for?

First of all, due to the nature of the role, we need an experiencedPeople Adviser or partner, with a background or great understanding ofOperations and manufacturing ideallywithin a retail business. Due to this, and the level this role will be at, we also do require a minimum qualification of CIPD level 5. Along with this, we also want someone with:

  • A willingness and eagerness to travel when required nationally – we have sites across the UK and this role will be expected to travel to those sites as well as to our support office in Accrington regularly.

  • Self motivated and enthusiastic, can work autonomously and prioritise own workload with a structured and organised approach

  • Extensive employment law knowledge and experience of HR policy implementation and attention to detail

  • Previous experience of dealing with ACAS, conciliation and arbitration processes, Employment Tribunals and high risk, complex ER cases

  • Ability to work at pace, under pressure on multiple work streams

  • Demonstrable experience of managing heavy caseloads alongside project, and reporting activities

  • Demonstrates excellent judgement and professionalism and experienced in training and mentoring a team

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong commercial acumen

  • Adaptable and can flex your approach to changing situations and circumstances
