Senior Tax Manager St Ives HybridSalary £50,000 - £65,000

Butler Rose are pleased to be representing our client, a consistently reliable a firm of accountants that is seeking someone with a strong knowledge and focus in tax with technical tax experience who can oversee the tax team and assist in providing a holistic tax service for a range of clients, primarily small and medium family enterprises, at its St Ives office in Cambridgeshire.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the writing of tax reports and tax planning exercises
  • Handing tax enquiries
  • Managing a tax department providing tax compliance and payroll services
  • Liaising with the Partners and other team members
  • Advising clients and other team members on a variety of tax issues covering income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, VAT and Stamp Duty
  • Attending meetings with clients and Officers of HMRC in connection with client tax affairs
  • Assisting members of the accounts team with the preparation of clients' accounts, reviewing and amending accounts where required, attend meetings with clients to discuss their accounts when required
  • Manage incoming post and emails, correspond with clients, HMRC and other third parties as required and manage client's internal files and folders
  • Meet with potential new clients, negotiate fees, register new clients with HMRC
  • Record time spend on dealing with client's affairs and invoice fees to a portfolio of clients
  • Maintain personal professional skills and CPD by regular attendance on training courses and regular reference to technical material
  • Maintain and enhance the firm's reputation, fostering good network relationships whilst always striving to grow the practice

Personal Requirements

  • CTA or ACA qualified, part qualified or equivalent, with at least 3 years' experience of corporate tax
  • Excellent communication skills and sound attention to detail
  • Strong leadership skills
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Good time management skills in order to ensure budgets and deadlines are met
