Duties are as follows:
To assist the Health and Safety Advisor to maintain a safe working environment for staff, visitors and contractors by carrying out inspections, organising corrective actions as required and operating supporting processes.
To assist the Health and Safety Advisor maintain all services and supplies contracts; ensuring procurement is in accordance with the Council's standing orders and financial regulations.
This post carries specific responsibilities for Employee-related Health and Safety: including assisting the Health and Safety Advisor with the carrying out/updating of Risk Assessments, control of contractor activities, Health & Safety legislation, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
To help raise the profile and customer awareness of Health and Safety services at South Cambridgeshire Hall through improved customer experience and improved service delivery.
Ensure the content of the intranet page is regularly updated.
Support the Health and Safety Advisor to create, monitor and ensure official purchase orders and invoices are processed within Council timescales.
To help implement a culture of continuous improvement across all Health and Safety activities.
To assist the Health and Safety Advisor with ensuring service requests are processed and undertaken in a timely and efficient manner, that customer expectations are managed and that records are current and accurately kept.
Be a contact for issues, queries and customer services matters relating to Health and Safety.
Required to deputise for the Health and Safety Advisor on an occasional basis (budget monitoring, contract procurement & management etc.) duration planned and unplanned absence for a period of up to two/three weeks (annual, flexi & sick Leave etc.)
What experience would the temporary worker need to be successful in this role?
* At least one year's experience of working in a similar role * Proven experience of health & safety at work and fire safety legislation* Good knowledge of workplace Health & Safety regulations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 * Experience of dealing with service users or the general public in a busy corporate environment * Excellent computer skills and good knowledge of the Microsoft Office products, especially excel* Ability to professionally support and encourage compliance with H&S legal requirements* Experience of organising training sessions, including attendee selection, follow up attendance * Experience of using online platforms, such as T1, MyCompliance, Workrite, Licence Bureau
Hours: 37 hour week.
