Operational Lead: Hinchingbrooke Hospital Redevelopment Programme

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of a transformative healthcare initiative. We are seeking leaders with strong NHS experience to join our team and contribute to the creation of a state-of-the-art healthcare facility that will set new standards in patient care and sustainability.

As the Operations Lead, you will be instrumental in the operational and clinical planning of the Trust’s hospital redevelopment programme. Working mainly onsite, with up to one day a week working remotely, this role involves driving hospital operations, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and fostering patient-centric care to establish the Hospital 2.0 model for the scheme. Your leadership will be critical in ensuring the programme meets the highest standards of governance, public accountability, and quality benchmarks.

Main Duties of the Job

  • The post holder will hold extensive NHS experience, mainly working within an Acute setting to manage the operational and clinical planning, providing operational leadership into the New Hospital Scheme;
  • Strategically drive hospital operations, compliance, and patient-centric care;
  • Create a forward plan that will anticipate and mitigate any impact on operational delivery or patient care that may arise as the result of the works;
  • Oversee emergency preparedness, resilience and response (EPRR) in relation to the significant planning and management of the redevelopment construction works;
  • Support the development of the target operating model (T.O.M) for the new hospital, engaging with clinical leads on clinical pathways;
  • Conduct demand and capacity planning to forecast future patient numbers and healthcare service requirements;

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in operational readiness, ensuring that hospital staff are prepared to utilise new facilities effectively;
  • Working with the Programme team to identify risks, ensure risks are effectively monitored and managed, and agreed routes of escalation are followed;
  • Prepare Board and Committee reports and papers as required, attending meetings and presenting progress reports against clear key performance indicators;
  • Providing invaluable Operations and EPRR insight into the programme and ensuring that plans are developed with involvement from colleagues within those departments;
  • Leading divisional teams to ensure that business continuity plans are in place and proactive plans are developed to mitigate potential risks and disruption to services;
  • Prepare and present reports to the Board and Committees, updating on progress against key performance indicators.
