The role has only come about with the business due to the existing postholder leaving to pursue a degree course full time. The environment is technical / scientific due to the nature of their business however this role is very much administrative.

The candidate will receive full training and shall be deemed proficient in any tasks they carry out. The candidate must comply with all the rules and policies of the company, and will be inducted with these, together with the Company Policies. Full training in data entry and our administrative systems will be provided, along with our standard induction covering company health and safety policies.

This is a flexible role, with the opportunity for hybrid working once probation training has been successfully completed, working with both Office Management and Laboratory Management.

Office Assistant Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Data entry - inputting data from hand-written test sheets onto our electronic systems
  • Scheduling projects - using the clients instructions to generate laboratory test schedules
  • General admin tasks including filing, scanning and putting together job folders
  • Review and maintain contract registers
  • Entering calibration data electronically
  • Generating draft reports
  • Carrying out basic in-house calibrations of testing equipment (during busy periods)
  • Creating & updating company documents - such as forms and procedures

Required skills:

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Attention to detail
  • Competent use of Microsoft office - i.e. word, excel
  • Basic understanding of maths
  • Clear written communication
  • Able to work independently, and work well as part of a team

Hours:

  • This is a part time role, Monday to Friday offering a minimum of 25 hours a week (5 days per day) Pay and working hours can be discussed and agreed at interview. However, the role does require the working hours to fall within our office hours of 8am - 5pm in order to ensure reports can be generated as per our contracted timescales.
  • Hybrid arrangement: Whilst you are being trained it will office based in the office. However, once you are familiar with the role and the systems you will be able to work from home 2 days a week.
  • Statutory holiday entitlement is provided, this is calculated once the working hours have been agreed.
  • The Company Absence Policy will be provided, along with all other Company Policies, following a successful interview.
