Metal Polisher / Fettler - Metal Finisher

  • Location: St. Neots - Cambourne area
  • Rate: £26,364 PA (£13.00 P/HR), with Overtime at £19.50 P/HR (Time & a Half)
  • Type: Permanent, Immediate Start Available
  • Commutable From: Huntingdon, Cambridge, Sandy, St. Neots, Bedford, Biggleswade, Letchworth Garden City, Cambourne, or Royston.
  • Own transport required due to location

We are looking for an experienced Metal Finisher (Polisher / Fettler) to join this well-established engineering company. This is a hands-on role requiring expertise in polishing and fettling of stainless steel to high-quality finishes including satin, mirror, shot blast and Scotch-bright. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and precision, working to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform polishing, grinding, deburring, and fettling of metal components to achieve required surface finishes.
  • Ensure quality control by inspecting finished products for alignment with standards and specifications.
  • Operate a range of hand tools, power tools, and machinery to complete finishing tasks efficiently.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Work in both confined areas and with large machinery, including equipment that may require polishing outside of the shop.
  • Occasionally assist with on-site equipment installations for customers.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in metal finishing, specifically with stainless steel.
  • Strong knowledge of metal finishing techniques and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with a wide range of tools and equipment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing work of the highest quality.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Working Hours:

Standard: 39-hour week, overtime opportunities available.

  • Monday: 7:30am - 4:00pm
  • Tuesday: 7:30am - 4:30pm
  • Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30am - 5:00pm
  • Friday: 7:30am - 12:00pm
