Your new companyAn opportunity to lead the Procurement function of this Cambridgeshire-based non-for-profit organisation. With a need to be in the office 1 day per week, this role is initially available on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract with a strong possibility of an extension/longer-term appointment.Your new roleAs Head of Procurement, this role will be responsible for planning the procurement pipeline and prioritising the workloads of the team involved in procurement activity. The role will drive best practice across the organisation and be the figurehead for all procurement queries, guidance and decisions. Working with a high degree of autonomy and profile across all levels of the organisation, this role will be responsible for challenging stakeholders on their sourcing requirements.
Key areas of focus will pertain to: continuing to embed and evolve the procurement strategy and policies along with all related paperwork and contract templates; approving individual sourcing strategies proposed; ensure all contractual costs or changes to contracts represent value for money; and provide specialist technical expertise and leadership to an established procurement team. What you'll need to succeedTo succeed in this role, you will have demonstrable procurement leadership experience and a strong track-record of delivering value across a broad spend portfolio. Public sector procurement experience is essential with Procurement Act 2023 Advanced Practitioner accreditation status extremely advantageous. With high levels of credibility, you will have excellent relationship-building and influencing skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to secure buy-in across a challenging stakeholder base. Strong leadership and coaching skills are essential, along with the ability to work autonomously.
