About the Role:We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a strong background in cover supervision to join our supportive team at a primary school in Cambridgeshire. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for education, who is ready to step into a key role in ensuring continuity of learning across all year groups.
As an HLTA, you will take on responsibility for supervising and delivering pre-prepared lessons in the absence of the class teacher, supporting the pupils' learning in a calm and structured manner. You will work closely with teachers to ensure that the school's high standards are maintained and that pupils receive a consistent and positive educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage whole class lessons in the absence of the class teacher
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and activities to ensure learning objectives are met
- Support the needs of all pupils, including those with additional learning needs
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and ensure a positive learning environment
- Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and any issues during the lesson
- Assist in preparing and setting up learning materials for lessons and activities
- Work with small groups or individuals to provide additional support when required
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and strategies
About You:
- Previous experience as a HLTA or in a similar role within a primary school
- Demonstrable experience in cover supervision and managing classrooms in the absence of the class teacher
- A sound understanding of the primary curriculum and educational standards
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to maintain discipline
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A patient, adaptable, and resilient approach to working with children
- A relevant qualification such as a Level 4 HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience supporting children with additional learning needs (SEN) is desirable
