About the Role:We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a strong background in cover supervision to join our supportive team at a primary school in Cambridgeshire. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for education, who is ready to step into a key role in ensuring continuity of learning across all year groups.

As an HLTA, you will take on responsibility for supervising and delivering pre-prepared lessons in the absence of the class teacher, supporting the pupils' learning in a calm and structured manner. You will work closely with teachers to ensure that the school's high standards are maintained and that pupils receive a consistent and positive educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage whole class lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and activities to ensure learning objectives are met
  • Support the needs of all pupils, including those with additional learning needs
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and ensure a positive learning environment
  • Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and any issues during the lesson
  • Assist in preparing and setting up learning materials for lessons and activities
  • Work with small groups or individuals to provide additional support when required
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and strategies

About You:

  • Previous experience as a HLTA or in a similar role within a primary school
  • Demonstrable experience in cover supervision and managing classrooms in the absence of the class teacher
  • A sound understanding of the primary curriculum and educational standards
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to maintain discipline
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A patient, adaptable, and resilient approach to working with children
  • A relevant qualification such as a Level 4 HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting children with additional learning needs (SEN) is desirable
