An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Materials Scientist to join a renowned company known for its pioneering research and development in sustainable materials. This role can be full-time or part-time offering excellent benefits and a salary circa £40,000.

As a Materials Scientist, you will report to the Project Lead / Principal Scientist, conducting research and experiments to enhance material properties, applying theoretical principles, and collaborating with experts to develop innovative solutions.

You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting experiments and testing both new and existing materials.
  • Developing new hypotheses and experimental techniques to enhance material understanding.
  • Refining material deposition and processing methods to optimise performance.
  • Analysing results against theoretical models and literature.
  • Modelling material or device properties to predict application performance.
  • Engaging with external experts and research institutions to expand capabilities.
  • Contributing to intellectual property development through innovative solutions.

What we are looking for:

  • Previously worked as a Materials Scientist, Research Scientist, Physicist, Materials Engineer, Materials, Researcher, Research Associate or in a similar role.
  • Experience in conducting experiments on novel materials or devices.
  • Background in the development of new hypotheses for improving material properties.
  • Degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering, with a PhD in a related field.
  • Strong academic grounding in physics, with expertise in material properties.
  • Ideally have experience in incorporating materials into test structures to demonstrate desired functional properties and modelling material properties or their performance in device structures.
