We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to join the team at one of our esteemed clients within the Defence sector. They provide innovative software solutions in a consultative environment and are gearing up for exciting new projects.

As a leading provider of software solutions, the team works closely with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and other related organisations to deliver exceptional user experiences. As a Senior UX Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping their software development projects.

This will be a hybrid role predominantly but due to the nature of certain projects, there will be some periods where you are required on-site 5 days a week.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the planning of all UX-related activities, from initial discovery through to research, analysis, and user testing.
  • Work as part of multidisciplinary teams, including Business Analysts, Developers, and Delivery Managers, to capture insights and perspectives for effective design responses.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and marketing teams to align designs with user needs and business goals.
  • Develop and maintain a scalable design system to ensure consistency across digital products.
  • Lead and conduct user research studies, including user interviews, stakeholder workshops, focus groups, and user testing.
  • Run effective workshops from initial planning and design through to client engagement, facilitation, and translating outputs into deliverables that enhance the UX of a project.

What you'll need:

  • You will need experience in the defence sector as a minimum, ideally working with the MoD.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the full UX lifecycle, including methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of user research techniques and analysis, such as Contextual Inquiry, Ethnographic Research, Workshops, User Interviews, Empathy Maps, and validated learning.
  • Experience working in agile environments using methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • High proficiency with design tools, including Figma.
  • Experience working with customers and users to gather requirements and translate them into effective design solutions.
  • Appreciation for accessibility and awareness of WCAG standards.
