Our client, a Building Surveying practice, specialising in historical surveys and repairs, are seeking a Building Pathologist to join them, based from their Manchester office. The Building Pathologist will gain exposure to breadth of unique projects across the UK, working on a range of historical surveys, focusing on listed buildings, old industrial works, churches, cathedrals etc

It is envisioned the successful candidate with have proven knowledge of design and procurement within the UK construction industry and have a keen interest in heritage projects. This is a rare opportunity to work on truly one-of-a-kind projects across the UK and abroad for a company with a rich, over 50-year, history that is part of a larger group of businesses, employing over 2000 staff.

Building Pathologist Job Overview
  • Conduct building inspections using various techniques and equipment, including work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces.
  • Produce detailed reports with research, recommendations, photos, sketches, and annotated CAD plans.
  • Provide prompt, professional advice on building defects, material conditions, and performance.
  • Attend meetings with clients, design teams, and consultants.
  • Follow established procedures and help develop new systems to uphold quality standards.
  • Engage in personal training and development with management guidance.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all work and communications.
Building Pathologist Job Requirements
  • Hold a relevant Bachelors or Master's Degree
  • Achieved or working towards chartered Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g RIBA, RICS, etc)
  • Prior experience within the UK construction industry
  • Full UK Drivers licence and willingness to travel
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft 365
  • Interest in working on historical projects
