SEND Teaching Assistant Wanted for SEN School - Focus on ASC Students

A Primary SEN School is seeking a dedicated ASC Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students with autism and special educational needs, supporting their educational journey and fostering a positive learning environment. This role requires someone who can effectively communicate with students who struggle with language skills, may be non-verbal and need help building social skills in classes. What the role entails:

  • Work with students with autism and special educational needs, providing tailored materials and resources to meet their diverse learning requirements.
  • Assist in creating differentiated materials that cater to individual learning styles, abilities, and sensory preferences.
  • Finding ways to help students to express themselves and interact with staff, students and their lesson materials
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and parents/guardians to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and support materials.
  • Communicate regularly to gather feedback, share insights, and adjust strategies to enhance student success
  • Support students in managing challenging behaviours while promoting an inclusive learning atmosphere.

Skills:

  • Experience working with SEN children, especially those with autism spectrum conditions
  • Ability to educate and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Proficiency in toddler care and understanding the nuances of working with individuals on the autism spectrum.
  • Able to handle a range of behaviours with empathy and a professional approach
