Speech and Language Therapist

Band: 6 or 7 (depending on experience)

Hours per week: 22.5 hours

Shift Pattern: 3 days per week

Location: Based in Tameside

Main Duties:

  • Conduct highly complex swallowing and communication assessments for individuals with learning disabilities, diagnosing speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement specialist treatment plans based on assessments, offering ongoing care and discharging patients appropriately.
  • Make clinical decisions, develop individualized care strategies, and reduce risks associated with dysphagia while promoting the health and well-being of individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Prepare detailed reports and specialist assessments, providing suitable interventions and evaluating treatment outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively within a community adult learning disability multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care plans tailored to clients' needs.
  • Engage with clients, carers, and families to agree on management strategies, ensuring client involvement in planning and prioritizing care in a way they can understand.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation such as the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and adhere to service policies, procedures, and professional guidelines (RCSLT).

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration, Speech and Language Therapy Degree
  • Applicants must be dysphagia-trained and have experience working with individuals with learning disabilities.
