The Role

As a Materials Buyer, you’ll ensure the smooth running of the supply chain, supporting production and customer demands. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Raising Purchase Orders: Procuring raw materials and services needed for manufacturing components.
• Stock Management: Collaborating with stores to maintain agreed stock levels both in-house and with suppliers.
• Supplier Negotiations: Securing the best prices and service levels while building strong supplier relationships.
• Invoice Matching: Accurately matching delivery notes with supplier invoices.
• Daily Production Meetings: Ensuring material delivery schedules align with production deadlines.
• Estimating Support: Assisting the Sales Department with quotes for new contracts.

What You’ll Need

We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional with the following:

• Experience: Ideally, experience in a purchasing role within a manufacturing environment (e.g., metal finishing, metal supplier, or stockist).
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
• Negotiation Skills: Confident in negotiating competitive prices and terms with suppliers.
• Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to managing orders, invoices, and stock levels.
• Technical Proficiency: Competence in using Microsoft Office and other computer systems.
• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Team Player: Collaborative, flexible, and driven to contribute to team success.
