Our client is a well-established construction company that specialise in delivering high-quality construction projects across the commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and heritage sectors. As our client continues to grow, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Estimator to join their team and contribute to their success.

As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects, with a particular focus on the public sector. You will leverage your expertise in estimating software such as Causeway and Bluebeam to produce detailed and reliable estimates. Working closely with the Commercial and Pre-Construction Teams, you will ensure that all bids are competitive, accurate, and align with our clients' objectives.

Estimator

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Ensure that all estimates are completed in a timely manner and align with client requirements.
  • Utilise estimating software such as Causeway and Bluebeam to create, manage, and analyse estimates. Ensure the effective use of these tools to streamline the estimating process and enhance accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Bid Writer and Pre-Construction Team to develop comprehensive and competitive bid proposals. Provide input on pricing strategies and risk assessments.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of project specifications, drawings, and contracts to identify potential risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
  • Leverage your experience in the public sector to accurately estimate costs for government-funded projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure the best value and quality for the project. Develop and maintain relationships with key subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering while maintaining quality and compliance with client specifications.
  • Work closely with the Commercial and Project Management Teams to ensure that estimates are aligned with project goals and objectives. Provide support during post-tender negotiations and contract handovers.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve the estimating process and enhance the accuracy of cost projections.

Estimator

Position Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as an Estimator, with a significant portion spent working for a main contractor on public sector projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in using estimating software such as Causeway and Bluebeam. Experience with other relevant software tools is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of the construction industry, including the commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and heritage sectors.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to assess project risks, opportunities, and cost implications accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to produce highly accurate and reliable estimates.
