Mechanical Project Manager
East London

1st Step Solutions are working on behalf of a National Mechanical & Electrical Contractor, who are have an opportunity for a Mechanical Project Manager to join then on a secured Data Centre in East London.

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in project management, particularly within the commercial sector or similar related projects with values between 5-10million. Ideally, you will have experience of demonstrating responsibility for full Contract Management at this level.

Responsibilities include overseeing both the site install teams and site management teams, liaising effectively with in-house design and commercial teams, procuring materials, and managing day-to-day client interactions.

Responsibilities:
- Effectively and professionally oversee and control the day to day management of projects including sub-contract packages to make a profit by delivering within budget and programme to exceed the satisfaction of the client, project manager and associated directors.
- To manage the overview of the mechanical design of the system, working closely with the consultant as a supporting / development role to ensure a robust, buildable design within the budget costs.
- Attend & host team meetings.
- Lead and issue meeting notes for technical and progress workshop meetings.
- Reviewing tender information including design drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
- Delivering the design / working drawings necessary to deliver the project and ensure you capture any additional costs and programme delays caused by external influences on their production.
- Production and technical compliance checking of technical submissions against specifications and ER documents.
- Production of package scoping documents.
- Reviewing and compliance checking our working drawings against specifications and ER documents.
- Being able to develop a commissioning strategy for the installation.
- Working with a level of autonomy from the Project Manager.
- Assisting the Project Manager with their duties and acting as a second in command on the project.
- Programming of the works and sub-contract packages.
- Manage installation and commissioning activities of your assigned packages.
- Management of handover documentation (record drawings / test and commission).
- Risk control (programme and commercial).

Requirements:
- HNC/HND Building Services qualification or above - Desirable.
- CSCS/SMSTS.
- Mechanical qualification.
- Experience of working at a senior level on M&E projects, as well as ideally having had responsibility for full contract management.
- Having the ability and being comfortable to take on large and complex packages of work.
- Knowledge of current construction practices and safety on site.
- Ability to write a package scope of works.
- Ability to evaluate and make decisions.
- Understands mechanical design principles.
