We are currently looking for a Technical Manager to be based on a key client Data Center site in Docklands. This is an essential site-based role for a professional, with critical environment and management experience seeking a role as Technical Manager.
As the Data Center Technical Manager you will -
1.Supervise of the operation, maintenance and repair of all critical environment systems while maintaining 100% uptime to all critical power systems.
2.Adhere to all quality, health and safety, and environmental policies within the Critical Environmemt.
3.Coordinate and supervise on-going scheduled and break-fix maintenance, PPMs, training and activities within the data centre. Schedule and coordinate full overview of all Engineering team activities and prioritize these activities.
4.Ensure all subcontractors are inducted and permitted to work within the engineering domain. Review subcontractor method statements and risk assessments to ensure compliance with site health & safety and operating procedures.
5.Fully conversant with the client and Supplier Emergency Response Plan and EOPs.
6.Be a point of contact for the Engineering Shift team if and when the shift team require assistance.
7.Complete scheduled PPMs and ensure all other Engineering Day Technicians carry out their scheduled PPMs in a timely manner (PPMs as issued through CMMS)
8.Update and log all activities and time on CMMS.
9.Ensure a daily Handover report via email detailing activities and issues that have taken place and that require escalation (Day Report to mirror the Shift Report format) has been sent.
10.Attend the weekly planning meeting. Ensure a member of the Shift team circulate minutes to the wider Team on the same day.
11.Provide input into and develop site specific procedures including EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, Aps and EOP Drills.
12.Carry out Toolbox talks once a week with the team.
13.Complete a minimum of 2 drills per month.
14.Lead and manage direct team technical staff development and appraisal within the constraints of the contract and Supplier policies.
15.Ensure that the main office area and workshops are clean and tidy at all times.
16.Adhere to and drive the Engineering team to achieve acceptable scores on the team KPI scorecard
17.Report health and safety breaches through the site process
18.Be fully familiar with site escalation procedures.
The Technical Manager will have the following experience and qualifications -
1.Qualified to Degree Level in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years direct industry experience or a minimum of 10 years experience at Electrician or Electrical Technician level in a critical environment combined with supervisory experience. Preference is given to data centre, hospital, pharmaceutical production or power plant experience.
2.Strong and committed team player with excellent communication and coaching skills. Previous experience of supervising highly qualified Technicians and reporting to peers and senior managers.
3.Willingness to work outside of normal hours if necessary, to resolve technical issues in a 24/7 industry.
4.An excellent understanding and experience of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data centre environment, including: Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, UPS systems, Battery banks, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, CRAC units, Fire Alarm systems, and Fire Suppression systems.
5.Experience of complex automatic control equipment, including relay logic, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), building management systems, and their integration with the data centre infrastructure.
6.Experience of medium voltage distribution systems and associated switch gear and protection equipment.
7.Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with the client and contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data centre systems.
8.Computer literate with the ability to compile and submit monthly and annual reports, and to monitor and trend operational characteristics (load, capacity, environmental conditions etc.). Good working ability on Microsoft Office Products.
9.The ability to learn quickly and to gain maximum benefit from extensive training and development programs aimed at ensuring that any identified knowledge or experience deficiencies are addressed in the short term.
10.The Technical Manager reports to The Critical Facility Manager (CFM). He/she will work closely with the CFM for the planning and delivery of daily operations. He/she is responsible for the supervision of the Engineering day team & Shift technicians onsite
