Job Vacancy: School Caretaker
We are looking for a reliable and motivated School Caretaker to join our dedicated team. As a School Caretaker, you will play a key role in ensuring that the school premises are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out general maintenance tasks around the school, including repairs, minor plumbing, electrical work, and painting.
- Ensure that all areas of the school, including classrooms, corridors, toilets, and outdoor spaces, are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Open and close the school premises, manage keys, and oversee the security of the building, including setting alarms and securing windows and doors.
- Assist with setting up and clearing away for events, assemblies, and activities.
- Carry out routine health and safety checks, including fire alarm testing and ensuring that emergency exits are accessible.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers for larger maintenance jobs and oversee their work when necessary.
- Monitor stock levels for cleaning and maintenance supplies, and order replacements as needed.
- Adhere to the school's policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities management role (school setting preferred but not essential).
- Basic DIY, plumbing, and electrical skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and general duties.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
- Enhanced Children and Adults DBS check is required (this can be processed for the successful candidate).
