We are working with a world-renowned heritage site and a registered charity. It is a masterpiece of baroque architecture, attracting visitors from across the globe while also hosting a range of cultural and educational activities. The organization is committed to preserving its historic assets and delivering an exceptional experience for its visitors and stakeholders.
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Director to join this charity on an interim basis for 4-6 months. The successful candidate will oversee the charity's financial operations, provide strategic guidance, and ensure robust financial governance. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Finance Director will work closely with the executive team and trustees, ensuring that financial processes and strategies align with the charity's mission and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning and budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision-making by the executive team and board of trustees.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts, annual budgets, and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with charity sector regulations, including SORP and audit requirements.
- Manage the year-end financial audit process, liaising with auditors and trustees as required.
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including cash flow management, payroll, and procurement.
- Maintain strong financial controls and procedures, ensuring efficiency and mitigating risk.
- Support funding applications and manage grant reporting processes.
- Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring their professional development and effectiveness.
- Foster collaboration with other departments to ensure financial literacy and accountability across the organization.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trustees, funders, and key external partners.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior management team on all financial matters.
Essential
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with extensive post-qualification experience.
- Proven track record in a senior finance role, preferably within the charity or heritage sector.
- Strong knowledge of charity accounting standards and compliance requirements (e.g., SORP).
- Exceptional financial planning, analysis, and reporting skills.
- Ability to lead, manage, and develop a finance team effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable
- Experience working in heritage, cultural, or non-profit organizations.
- Familiarity with grant management and reporting requirements.
