We are working closely with a Secondary School in Greenwich who are on the hunt for a bubbly and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA to start ASAP.

  • You will be covering PPA cover lessons and gain valuable experience in the classroom
  • You will be working with specialist professionals in a Speech and Language department
  • Manage a small team of Teaching Assistants
  • Long term contract starting ASAP

This school have a specialist Speech and Language department who follow the ICAN project ran by the NHS. They have Specialist Educational Practitioners, Nursery Nurses and a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist who you will work alongside on a weekly basis.

Job Description - Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA

  • Higher-Level Teaching Assistant role
  • Complete 1:1 and group activities with the KS3, KS4 and KS5 (ages 11-16)
  • Working within the Speech and Language Department
  • Shadowing professionals such as Speech and Language therapists.
  • Working closely with SEN students including Non - Verbal, Pre - Verbal and those who have limited communication.
  • Use creative and imaginative ways to communicate and build rapports with the students
  • To support the lead teacher with resources and basic behaviour management
  • To cover lessons when the teacher is completing PPA
  • Monday to Friday 8:30-4pm
  • 120 - 140 per day
  • September 2024 start (for full academic year)
  • Located in Greenwich
  • Full - Time, Long Term

Candidate Specification - Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant
  • Strong passion for working with students on their academia and mental health
  • Enthusiasm and creative to be able to inspire children with learning
  • The ability to write cogently and fluently with correct spelling and punctuation
