We are working closely with a Secondary School in Greenwich who are on the hunt for a bubbly and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA to start ASAP.
Key information about this Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA role:
- You will be covering PPA cover lessons and gain valuable experience in the classroom
- You will be working with specialist professionals in a Speech and Language department
- Manage a small team of Teaching Assistants
- Long term contract starting ASAP
This school have a specialist Speech and Language department who follow the ICAN project ran by the NHS. They have Specialist Educational Practitioners, Nursery Nurses and a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist who you will work alongside on a weekly basis.

Job Description - Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA
- Higher-Level Teaching Assistant role
- Complete 1:1 and group activities with the KS3, KS4 and KS5 (ages 11-16)
- Working within the Speech and Language Department
- Shadowing professionals such as Speech and Language therapists.
- Working closely with SEN students including Non - Verbal, Pre - Verbal and those who have limited communication.
- Use creative and imaginative ways to communicate and build rapports with the students
- To support the lead teacher with resources and basic behaviour management
- To cover lessons when the teacher is completing PPA
- Monday to Friday 8:30-4pm
- 120 - 140 per day
- September 2024 start (for full academic year)
- Located in Greenwich
- Full - Time, Long Term
Candidate Specification - Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant
- Strong passion for working with students on their academia and mental health
- Enthusiasm and creative to be able to inspire children with learning
- The ability to write cogently and fluently with correct spelling and punctuation
- Patience, kindness, flexibility, good humour and the ability to work as part of a team
- Professional attitude and approach to work
