SEMH Teaching Assistant Newham February Start

We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistantto join a supportive secondary school in Newham starting in February.

This role is ideal for someone who is committed to helping students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs thrive in an academic setting. You will play a key role in supporting students who require additional assistance in managing their behaviour and emotional challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage in lessons and manage their emotions effectively.
  • Assist teachers in the classroom with managing students' behaviour and ensuring they remain focused on their studies.
  • Support students in developing their social and emotional skills, helping them build positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Work closely with the school's SENCO and pastoral team to track student progress and implement tailored support strategies.
  • Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and contribute to student reviews.
  • Help maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all students, encouraging respect, responsibility, and self-regulation.
  • Offer pastoral support, acting as a mentor to students who may need additional emotional or behavioural guidance.
  • Collaborate with parents and carers to provide consistent support at home and school.
