Looking for a new full-time, long-term role in specialist education?

Are you based in or near the Boroughs of Waltham Forest, Dagenham and Tower Hamlets?

Do you have a passion for providing the best support to children and young people?

Starting as soon as possible, this is a fantastic opportunity for dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants, Health Care Support Workers, Sports Coaches, Youth Workers, Learning Support Assistants, and others with behavioural management experience to join the team at our specialist schools in East London.

These are rapidly growing, maintained schools for pupils aged 3 - 19 years with Moderate to Severe Learning Disabilities and associated complexities. Experience is essential for this role.

This position will give you with the chance to work under the guidance of SEN-trained staff, supporting programmes that enable access to learning for all pupils in an inclusive and progressive environment.

Main Duties

  • Attend to the personal needs of pupils and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first-aid and welfare matters.
  • Supervise and provide support to pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities during lunchtime.
  • Support pupils to understand instructions, particularly in local and national learning strategies such as literacy, numeracy, and early years to KS4, as directed by the class teacher.
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, responding appropriately to their individual needs, and encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities.
  • Prepare the classroom after lunch and clear afterwards.
